Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to appear as being sent from a different, often with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all the email servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an email address under the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. When, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it'll be discarded. Whenever you employ this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam e-mails which seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The option is accessible in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down list and then type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This feature gives you the best standard of protection, but it's not applicable when only your site is on our servers while your emails for the domain are taken care of in a different place. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure your email addresses by enabling the SPF security service for any domain name in your account with only a few clicks. You can do this in the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous practical experience with such things, you won't have any trouble to activate the security. The only things that you will have to do will be to find a domain from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be sent globally only if they were sent from that server. In case your emails are handled by us and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to take advantage of an option for e-mail messages to be mailed only when the domain name has our MX records and the latter is the safest option. If you have any kind of questions regarding thisfeature, you'll be able to get in touch with our technical support team 24/7.
